Bristol

Bristol is the largest city in south western England. Until the mid C18th it was the largest city in the country outside of London but the rise of industrial cities such as Birmingham, Liverpool and Manchester led to it being overtaken. The city remains one of the richest in England and Wales outside of London.

It is the sixth largest city in England, and the ninth largest in the UK with a population of around 550,000, with the ''Greater Bristol'' (i.e the now defunct county of Avon) area with just over 1 million people. Its Welsh translation is Bryste.

It is home to numerous colleges, including technical colleges, Bristol University and the University of the West of England.

I don't know much details, but there is/was some festival of popular music, at which Pink Floyd have performed. Also, Peter Gabriel used to live here for quite a long while :)

The airport has been closed for some time now (May 2020) and is in preparation for re-development. The lights have been removed from the runway. The air ambulance has been moved from here to the crook between the M4 and M5 to the west of their junction (51,33, 02,33, approx).
